Finlands found property service handles only found property that has been left in the premises of companies and registered societies. The firms that use our services are listed here. If the item has been lost elsewhere, please try to contact other found property offices. We do not handle cases that concern property that has been lost someplace else. We do not take any responsibility of the internet enquiries, that have been lost or deleted due to faults in the nets of internet operators or due to e-mail viruses.
In our stock there are found property items that have been found during the latest three months (90 days). If the item has been lost earlier, it is not available any more, neither from us or from other found property offices. The items come to our office usually with 1-6 days delay from the loss, but no later than two weeks from the day the item has been found. Found property from trains, buses, trams and metro in the capital area are transported every working day so that they can be enquired from our office the next working day after about 3.30 p.m. From the collective traffic comes so many gloves, winter-hats and umbrellas daily, that for them you must come to our office to recognise the item.
The keeping fee is charged according to the found property law. The items can be fetched from our office (police documents such as driving license and passport only in person or with a signed power document) or they can be delivered by mail.
We send a notice about the found property by mail to the home address of the customer. There are detailed expenses in the notice, showing the amount in case the customers chooses to fetch the item from our office and in the case he or she wants it to be delivered by mail. Enclosed there is detailed information for paying the mail delivery to our bank account. When we notice that the mail delivery has been paid, we will send the item to the given address. For mailing the expenses include postal charges and handling charge of 6-15 euros depending on the size of the package.
Internet , mail and fax enquiries are checked 1-2 times a week. If you want the information faster, please call our computer-based customer service. We keep searching for the item in enquiry, until we have received found property that have been found two weeks after the disappearance. Enquiries concerning low value items will be only checked once. The enquiries are in the schedule of checking for no more than three weeks.
Internet enquiry costs three (3) euros. Payment can be paid by credit card such as Visa or Mastercard or from Finnish bank account.
If the thing is found, shall we send a notice right away. If the enquired item has not been found after two weeks, we will announce about it to your e-mail. Our search concerns only items that are actually in our premises. Due to this, ”not found”-answer can appear in your e-mail, if you have used other way of enquiry, such as a phone call to our office, resulting that the item has been found.
